Refocus on God When You’re Feeling Distracted

Refocus on God When You’re Feeling Distracted

Bible Verse: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”Hebrews 12:2

Exhortation:

What:

Distraction is one of the enemy’s most subtle weapons. It may come through worries, work, technology, relationships, or even religious busyness. When distracted, we lose focus on God’s voice, His presence, and His plan.

Why:

Because distraction leads to delay, discouragement, and even destruction. Peter started sinking on water when he removed his focus from Jesus and looked at the storm (Matthew 14:30). In the same way, distractions rob us of faith, peace, and spiritual strength.

How:

  • By constantly fixing your eyes on Jesus through prayer, worship, and the Word.
  • By removing weights and unnecessary engagements that steal time from God (Hebrews 12:1).
  • By learning to be still in God’s presence (Psalm 46:10).
  • By choosing intimacy over activity – sitting at the feet of Jesus like Mary (Luke 10:42).

God’s Expectation:

God expects His children to live focused lives, running the race with patience and not being entangled with the affairs of this world (2 Timothy 2:4). He wants us to seek Him first (Matthew 6:33), guard our hearts diligently (Proverbs 4:23), and walk daily in His Spirit without distraction.

Prayer Points:

  1. Father, thank You for being my focus and foundation in life.
  2. Lord, forgive me for every way I have allowed distractions to take my eyes off You.
  3. I reject every spirit of confusion, busyness, and misplaced priorities in Jesus’ name.
  4. Lord, help me to fix my eyes on You, the Author and Finisher of my faith.
  5. Every storm or noise around me that is pulling me away from God, be silenced in Jesus’ name.
  6. Holy Spirit, teach me to dwell in Your presence daily without distraction.
  7. Lord, make me more like Mary who chose the better part of sitting at Your feet.
  8. Father, release upon me grace for discipline, focus, and consistency in my walk with You.
  9. I decree that no distraction shall abort God’s purpose in my life, in the name of Jesus.
