TOTAL DOMINION

TOTAL DOMINION

INTRODUCTION: Total Dominion, according to Genesis 1:26-30, refers to the authority and sovereignty that God gave to mankind over all of creation. In this passage, God created human beings in His image and likeness and blessed them with the mandate to rule over the earth and everything in it.

Genesis 1:26-30 (New International Version) states:

"Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.' So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.' Then God said, 'I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.' And it was so."

From this passage, we understand that God granted humanity the responsibility to exercise dominion and stewardship over His creation. This dominion includes the authority to govern and manage the earth, its resources, and all living creatures. It is a divine mandate to act as God's representatives on earth and to take care of His creation in a way that reflects His wisdom, love, and justice.

Total Dominion, therefore, involves not only ruling over the physical aspects of creation but also being responsible and accountable for its preservation and well-being. It is a call to exercise leadership with wisdom, integrity, and humility, acknowledging that all authority comes from God and is to be used for His purposes and glory.

However, it is essential to understand that Total Dominion does not mean exploiting or abusing the earth and its resources for selfish gain. Instead, it involves cultivating the earth and utilizing its resources in a manner that aligns with God's principles of stewardship, sustainability, and care for the environment and all living beings.

Biblically, Total Dominion, according to Genesis 1:26-30, is the divine mandate given to humanity to exercise responsible authority and stewardship over God's creation, reflecting His image and fulfilling His purposes on earth.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO HAVE DOMINION?

According to the Bible, it is important for man to have dominion for several reasons:

1.           Divine Mandate: God created human beings in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26), and part of this divine mandate is to rule over the earth and exercise dominion. It is God's design and purpose for humanity to exercise responsible authority over His creation as His representatives on earth. You are created in the image of God for the purpose of dominate and rule over the creatures.

2.     Stewardship and Care: Having dominion means that human beings are entrusted with the responsibility of managing and caring for God's creation. "You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas." Psalm 8:6-8

As stewards of God's resources, man is called to use them wisely, sustainably, and in alignment with God's principles. You are entrusted with the care and preservation of God's creation.

 3.     Reflection of God's Image: Having dominion reflects the image of God in humanity. In Genesis 1:26 - "Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'"

God is a Sovereign Creator, and by exercising dominion, humans reflect God's authority, creativity, and wisdom in the world.

4.           Fruitfulness and Multiplication: In Genesis 1:28, God blesses man and commands him to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth. Dominion allows man to utilize the earth's resources to support his needs and the growth of human civilization.

 5.  Responsibility for Fellow Beings: As stewards with dominion, humans have a responsibility not only towards the earth but also towards other living creatures. This includes caring for animals, showing kindness, and ensuring their well-being.

6.           Order and Harmony: Having dominion allows man to establish order and harmony in the world. Through responsible governance and decision-making, man can create environments that promote peace, justice, and the flourishing of life.

7.           Overcoming Evil: Dominion empowers humanity to stand against evil and injustice. By exercising authority according to God's principles, man can confront and overcome the destructive forces that seek to harm God's creation.

.           Fulfilling God's Plan: God's plan for creation involves man playing a significant role in its development and preservation. Isaiah 45:18 - "For this is what the LORD says - he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited - he says: 'I am the LORD, and there is no other.'" Having dominion allows man to participate actively in the fulfillment of God's plan and purpose.

 9.           Co-Creation with God: God invites human beings to partner with Him in the ongoing work of creation and sustenance.

"The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." Genesis 2:15

As co-creators with God, humans have the privilege of participating in God's ongoing work of sustaining and developing the earth. Through their creativity, innovation, and responsible management of resources, they contribute to the ongoing process of creation and development. By exercising dominion, man collaborates with God in the unfolding of His plans and purposes on earth.

 10.      Impact on Future Generations: How humanity exercises dominion today will significantly impact future generations. "Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the LORD." Psalm 102:18

Responsible stewardship ensures that the earth is left in a condition that can continue to support life and provide for the needs of future generations.

 11.         Expression of Love: Having dominion involves caring for and nurturing God's creation. By responsibly managing the earth and its resources, humans demonstrate their love and gratitude to God for the gift of creation. "Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen." 1 John 4:20

Having dominion is essential for humanity as it fulfills God's purpose, reflects His image, and allows humans to participate in God's ongoing creative work. It is a sacred responsibility that calls for wise stewardship, love for God's creation, and a commitment to fulfilling God's divine mandate.

HOW TO HAVE A TOTAL DOMINION?

Having total dominion, according to the Bible, involves living in alignment with God's will and exercising authority and stewardship over the earth and its resources. Here are some key principles from the Bible on how to have total dominion:

1.     Walk in Obedience to God's Word: To have dominion, we must obey God's commands and follow His instructions. God's Word provides wisdom and guidance for living in alignment with His will. (Deuteronomy 28:1-2, Joshua 1:7-8)

2.     Cultivate a Close Relationship with God: Total dominion comes from knowing God intimately and seeking His presence daily. By drawing near to Him in prayer and worship, we align ourselves with His purposes and plans. (James 4:8, Psalm 91:1)

3.     Be a Good Steward: God has entrusted us with the care of His creation, and being a good steward involves wisely managing and using the resources He has given us. (Genesis 1:28, Genesis 2:15)

4.     Exercise Authority in Jesus' Name: As believers, we have been given the authority to use the name of Jesus to overcome the powers of darkness and bring about God's will on earth. (Luke 10:19, Mark 16:17-18)

5.     Walk in Faith and Boldness: To have dominion, we must walk in faith, believing that God is with us and that He has given us the power to overcome any obstacles. (Hebrews 11:6, 2 Timothy 1:7)

6.     Love and Serve Others: Jesus taught that true greatness comes from serving others. As we love and serve those around us, we reflect the character of Christ and demonstrate godly dominion. (Matthew 20:26-28, Mark 10:43-45)

7.     Resist Sin and Temptation: To maintain dominion, we must resist the temptations and traps set by the enemy. By putting on the whole armor of God and standing firm in our faith, we can overcome the schemes of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-18, James 4:7)

8.     Proclaim and Advance God's Kingdom: We are called to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom and advance God's purposes on earth. As ambassadors of Christ, we carry His authority and message of reconciliation to the world. (Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Corinthians 5:20)

By following these biblical principles and seeking God's guidance and empowerment through the Holy Spirit, we can walk in total dominion as God intended for His people.
