THE TRAGEDY OF THE OPPRESSORS

The Tragedy of the Oppressors

  • Prayer Bombs against the oppressors.
  • Deliverance prayer from the oppressors.

Bible Reading: Proverbs 28:1-6

“1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.” Proverbs 28:1-6

Our focus today is the tragedy ahead of the oppressors. We are in a generation where people are taking advantage of being superior or holding a position to oppress others. The news from a different angle of the world shows that many people are under oppressors. People are being caged because they don’t have a voice or their voice cannot be heard.

What is the meaning of oppressor?

Oppression is malicious or unjust treatment or exercise of power, often under the guise of a governmental authority or cultural opprobrium. Oppression may be overt or covert, depending on how it is practiced. Oppression others started from homes, some fathers are oppressors on their children and wives, while some wives are oppressors in the house.

What does the Bible say?

Nevertheless, the Holy Bible commanded us to “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed.” Psalm 82:3 (NIV). But the reverse is the case for many people includes Christians. Instead, to stand and defend the truth so that the mass can be free, they prefer to act ignorantly and continue to oppress the poor.

Mordecai told Esther, “If you keep quiet at a time like this, help will come from heaven to the Jews, and they will be saved, but you will die and your father's family will come to an end. Yet who knows - maybe it was for a time like this that you were made queen!" Esther 4:14 (GNT)

King James Version of the Bible says:

“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14 (KJV)

Any Christian that silences at a time that the masses are humiliating, such Christian should be expecting nothing from God than judgment without mercy. God purposely allows you to be in that position to save lives and rescue souls. Not to oppressor others.

God spoke through Prophet Jeremiah against the oppressors that:

“Your iniquities have turned these away, and your sins have kept good from you. For wicked men are found among my people; they lurk like fowlers lying in wait. They set a trap; they catch men. Like a cage full of birds, their houses are full of deceit; therefore, they have become great and rich; they have grown fat and sleek. They know no bounds in deeds of evil; they judge not with justice the cause of the fatherless, to make it prosper, and they do not defend the rights of the needy. Shall I not punish them for these things? declares the Lord, and shall I not avenge myself on a nation such as this?” Jeremiah 5:25-29 [ESV]

It’s a disgraceful act for any Christian leader to be an oppressor. It is a scandalous and shameful behavior for a believer to be part of the oppressing people. Many people had insulted God because they have oppressor the poor.

“If you mistreat the poor, you insult your Creator; if you are kind to them, you show him respect.” Proverbs 14:31 [CEV]

The above verse of the Bible is telling us that, “He that oppressed the poor reproached his Maker [God]: but he that honoureth Him [God] hath mercy on the poor.” KJV

If you are oppressing the poor or anyone, you are insulting the God that created you in His image and likeness, [Genesis 1:26-28]. Numerous people are guilty of the above verse. Indeed, you are not a fornicator, fighters, smokers, or drunker, but you are the planner or fueler of oppressing people with power, money, etc. You purposely organizer evil events to oppress the masses so that they cannot exercise their rights. Mind you, God is watching!

The writers that writing oppression against the poor will be punished for the acts:

“Woe to those who decree iniquitous decrees, and the writers who keep writing oppression, to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey! What will you do on the day of punishment, in the ruin that will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth?” Isaiah 10:1-3 [ESV]

When God’s judgment comes, nowhere you can flee to. Nothing can help you to escape from it. That’s why you must come back to your senses now. Where you are today, you may not be there tomorrow.

Remember, whatever the position you are in today is a grace of God and an opportunity to influence others, and you will not be there forever. What you do today is a history tomorrow. Stop oppressing people. Don’t join wicked people to oppress others, it’s an evil attitude. Stop it now before it is too late!

God is warning you not to take advantage of people whom you consider ‘poor’, it will cost you dearly. God is not a respecter of anybody, whatever a man sow, he will surely reap it. Galatians 6:7

What can you do to escape God’s judgment against the oppressors?

There is nothing you can to escape the judgment of God that is coming against the oppressors than:

  • To repent – Luke 13:3, 5
  • Surrender your life unto Jesus Christ. Matthew 11:28. No option!
  • Stop oppression people.
  • Return the possession of the poor that are with you. Whatever that belongs to the people you have oppressed that are with you should be refunded or return to them.
  • Preach against oppressing people.
  • Power yourself with prayers.
