Bible Reading: Joshua 5:10-12

“10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.

11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.

12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more, but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.” Joshua 5:10-12

Generally, we are in the world where bitterness is a most profound level the distaste and virtually every person has one thing or the other that is the cause of bitterness in their lives. But the good thing is that has God turn the water of Meribah to sweetness for the children of Israelites also interested bitterness away from the life of all and sundry.

The journey of the Israelites from Egypt to the wilderness and Canaan Land is a journey full of events that taught us lessons, and one of the events is the eating of manna. When their journey is approaching the Promised Land, something miraculous happened – at Gilgal, they ate the manna for the last time. In order words, the eating of manna become a history. “And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more, but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.” Joshua 5:12

Beloved, there is something that must expire in your life today, I called it bitterness.

What’s bitterness? Bitterness is defined as the property of having a harsh unpleasant taste. That’s living in an unbearable condition. This bitterness may be sorrow, affliction, barrenness, unfruitfulness, disappointment, unemployment, or sickness. It is anything that puts itself in contention with the joy apportioned to you by God.

Bitterness can exist in any form. Sadly, everyone has one thing or the other that is a root of bitterness in their lives. For some persons it’s their works, others it can be their families or health. But the good news is that we have a God who is a specialist in turning bitterness into sweetness.

Bitterness is a condition that can incapacitate a man. Many examples abound in the Bible. For instance, Hannah was in a state of bitterness for some years as a result of mockery from her rival wife that provoke her as a result of her barrenness.

“And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret because the LORD had shut up her womb… So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, ...And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.” 1 Samuel 1:6-10

Jabez is another person that was experience bitterness. He was revealed that he was called Jabez because his mother bares him with bitterness. The Bible says, Jabez is more honourable than his brethren, but he was the child whom his mother bore with sorrow.

“And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying Because I bare him with sorrow.” 1 Chronicles 4:9

It is clearly understood that Jabez destiny is honourable and great, but he was born when his mother was in bitterness.

Bitterness can cause someone to misbehave and reacts negatively. It can cause weariness and tiredness. It can make you cage yourself. But we thank God that we have a Father (the Almighty God) who takes the welfare of his children as paramount. The Bible has several accounts of lives that were changed and incidents that were bitterness and had no atom of sweetness but ended up being sweetness. Something that does not allow you to have joy must expire in your life today.

What can you do to end your bitterness?

§  Turn to Jesus Christ - Matthew 11:28. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.”

§  Study your Bible daily – Joshua 1:8. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have success.”

§  Present your case before God like Hannah and Jabez – 1 Samuel 1:9-10, 1 Chronicle 4:10

“So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.” 1Samuel 1:9-10

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” 1 Chronicles 4:10

5.           By the power in the Blood of Jesus, I break the chain of marital stagnancy, in the name of Jesus.

6.           Father, whatever that make my life bitter, turn it to joy, in the name of Jesus.

7.           By the power in the name of Jesus, anything that causes bitterness into my marriage, your time is over, expire by fire.

8.           By the power in the Blood of JESUS, I closed the source of bitterness in my life, in the name of Jesus.

9.           I bring fire from the altar of God upon every satanic agent that fueling bitterness into my marriage, in the name of Jesus.

10.      Every anti-success in my life, cast fire, in the name of Jesus.

11.      Father, cause my barrenness to expired today, in the name of Jesus.

12.      Every branch of bitterness in my family, cut off by the fire, in the name of Jesus.

13.      Every door of bitterness in my family, be closed by fire, in the name of Jesus.

14.      Every hand that gathered against my success, be scattered by fire, in the name of Jesus.

15.      Holy Ghost fire, burn to ashes every token of bitterness that caused by evil spiritual marriage, in the name of Jesus.

16.      Every protocol of bitterness arranged for my marriage, be scattered by fire, in the name of Jesus.

17.      Arrow of bitterness in my life, backfire to sender, in the name of Jesus.

18.      The mat of bitterness that set before me, cast fire, in the name of Jesus.

19.      The mat of bitterness that my marriage is built on, cast fire, in the name of Jesus.

20.      I break the yoke of the bitterness spirits having access to my reproductive womb, in the name of Jesus.

21.      By the power in the name of Jesus, bitterness in my business, disappear.

22.      By the power in the name of Jesus, bitterness in my studies, disappear.

23.      By the power in the name of Jesus, bitterness in my marriage, disappear.

24.      As from today henceforth, my marriage will not follow any inherited bitterness in marriage, in the name of Jesus.

25.      By the power in the name of Jesus, bitterness in my finances, disappear.

26.      All the enemies that mocked me, disgrace with an uncommon breakthrough that will happen to me, in the name of Jesus.

27.      All my hidden virtues, arise by fire and locate me, in the name of Jesus.

28.      Every bitterness that arranged for me, let it turn back to those that arranged it, in the name of Jesus.

29.      By the power in the Blood of Jesus, I redeem myself from every sex trap, in the name of Jesus.

30.      Father, deliver me from the captivity of bitterness, in the name of Jesus.

31.      Father, anything that does not give room for joy in my life, silence them by your power, in the name of Jesus.

32.      Father, in Your mercy, turn my bitterness to everlasting joy, in the name of Jesus.

33.      Every evil spiritual marriage that opened the door for barrenness in my marriage, I bury you today by fire, in the name of Jesus.
