Deliverance Prayers to Break Family Curses

Deliverance Prayers to Break Family Curses

Many people struggle with battles that did not start with them. These are battles inherited from bloodlines—negative patterns of sickness, poverty, failure, barrenness, untimely death, and marital problems that pass from one generation to another. The Bible calls this a curse (Deuteronomy 5:9), and it often flows through families until it is broken by the power of Jesus Christ.

The good news is that no curse is greater than the blood of Jesus. Galatians 3:13 declares: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us…” Through Christ, you are redeemed from every generational bondage, and by prayer, you can enforce your deliverance.

In this article, we will look at biblical understanding of family curses and then walk through deliverance prayers to break them permanently.

What Are Family Curses?

A family curse is a recurring negative pattern in a bloodline. It often manifests in:

  • Repeated sicknesses (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, cancer, etc.)
  • Financial hardship and cycles of poverty
  • Marital instability or barrenness
  • Addictions and destructive behaviors
  • Untimely death or mysterious accidents
  • Constant failure at the edge of breakthrough

These are not coincidences; they are spiritual chains that need to be broken.

Scriptural Foundation for Breaking Curses

  1. Galatians 3:13-14 – Christ has redeemed us from the curse.
  2. Colossians 2:14-15 – Jesus nailed every ordinance against us to the cross.
  3. Isaiah 10:27 – The anointing breaks every yoke.
  4. John 8:36“If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.”

These scriptures assure us that curses can be broken and deliverance is available through Christ.

Deliverance Prayers to Break Family Curses

Pray these at midnight or in dedicated prayer sessions with fasting if possible.

1. Prayer of Repentance and Renunciation

Scripture: 1 John 1:9

Prayer:
Father, I confess and repent of every known and unknown sin in my life and in my family bloodline. I renounce every covenant, oath, and dedication made by my ancestors to idols, spirits, or the kingdom of darkness. By the blood of Jesus, I cancel their effect over my life. Amen.

2. Prayer to Break Evil Covenants

Scripture: Colossians 2:14

Prayer:
Every ancestral covenant tying my life to failure, poverty, sickness, or untimely death, be broken by the blood of Jesus! I decree that I am free, redeemed, and delivered. I belong to Christ, and no evil covenant will rule over me again. Amen.

3. Prayer Against Generational Poverty

Scripture: Philippians 4:19

Prayer:
Every spirit of poverty, lack, and financial struggle flowing from my family line, I reject you! I decree that my life will prosper, my hands will flourish, and I will not lack any good thing. Let the curse of financial hardship be broken today in Jesus’ name. Amen.

4. Prayer for Healing from Family Sicknesses

Scripture: Exodus 15:26

Prayer:
Lord, I reject every sickness that runs in my family—whether it is cancer, hypertension, diabetes, or any inherited disease. I decree divine health in my body. Every curse of infirmity breaks now by the stripes of Jesus. Amen.

5. Prayer Against Marital and Relationship Curses

Scripture: Genesis 2:18

Prayer:
I break every curse of marital delay, divorce, and instability in my bloodline. Every power that hinders marriages in my family, lose your grip over my life. I declare peace, love, and fruitfulness in my marriage and family. Amen.

6. Prayer to Cancel Untimely Death

Scripture: Psalm 118:17

Prayer:
I shall not die but live to declare the works of the Lord. Every spirit of sudden death, accident, or tragedy in my family line, I command you to depart from me and my household. The blood of Jesus speaks life over us. Amen.

7. Prayer for New Beginnings

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Prayer:
Father, I step into a new beginning in Christ. I cut off every evil inheritance and claim the blessings of Abraham. From today, I walk in victory, favor, prosperity, and long life. I am a new creation, and old things have passed away. Amen.

Final Declaration

Lay your hand on your head and declare this with faith:

“I am redeemed from every family curse. By the blood of Jesus, I am set free. No curse will rule over my life. From this day, I inherit blessings, favor, peace, and prosperity in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.”
