Bible Reading: Psalm 92:12-15

“12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.”

Generally, everyone desires to be great but not everyone can be great because not everyone can pay the price of greatness. The price of greatness is righteousness. No nation can become great without righteousness.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34

The above verse of the Bible not specifically on a particular nation but to all nations either black or white, located island or inland, either within the river or on the hill-top. Every nation on this earth should examine themselves if they are obligate under this power verse of the Scriptures. It is either you embrace righteousness or you're grip in sins. Mind you, nobody can be righteous and at the same time be a sinner. It is either you are righteous or you are a sinner.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

We are in a generation where everyone is eager to be great through sinful acts. People believe that they can be dwelling in sin and at the same time be righteous. It is an abomination to be claiming righteousness when you are dwelling, reigning, and living in sins.

People have moved away from God because of personal gain and selfishness. This is the problem many marriages, nations, and churches face today. Not acknowledging God’s principles and standards. We want to do things as it pleases us not as God’s wish. People have abridged the standard of God to political debates which only focus on individual rights, tribalism, and self-promotion, rather than seeking and embracing what is right in God’s eyes as stated in the Holy Bible.

Righteousness is not an option but mandatory if truly you want to become great in life and achieve your divine purpose. Mind you, the more you continue seeking your personal righteousness the more you are decaying from the way of God.

The following are the benefit of living a righteous life:

Firstly, flourishing.

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;” Psalm 92:12-14

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree” is the confirmation of what your work, business, or ministry needed to flourish. You cannot flourish in anything you do with unrighteous characters; it may seem as it is good for your business, but the truth is that a big setback is on the way in as long as you neglect the righteousness of God. No wonder, many nations are not flourishing despite the resources and good land they have.

Righteousness is the bedrock of a flourished business and a great nation. If you want your marriage to be flourishing and fat in goodness and prosperity, make sure you and your spouse embrace righteousness. The reason your business is suffering ups and downs is that you did not embrace righteousness. The reason why you are having carry-over in the exams is that you used the fake result to get admission, and your admission is manipulated with unrighteousness. What is the foundation of your business, your marriage, or the certificate you used to get that job? Are they not founded OR build on unrighteousness? Check it!

Many people that travel out of their country to foreign land left with fake documents, using another person's name or document to get a Visa. Unfortunately, they find it difficult to lives comfortably because their journey was built on unrighteousness. What a shame!

The Psalmist added that: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standing in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditates day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3

Secondly, boldness and courage.

Nothing gives you boldness like righteousness. The Bible affirmed that: “The wicked flee when no man pursues: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1

If you are a leader, and your work is righteous, you don’t need to run away from people because your work must speak for you. But today, many leaders cannot stand before their people because their work is evil. Beloved, check your ways, actions, deeds, and thoughts, are they righteousness?

In the early church, the apostles stood against evil and back government, and the government bow for them. why? Because they live complete in righteousness. But today, bribe and corruption are the number one characters of both Christians and non-Christians, church leaders, and political jamborees. Many nations are under satanic influence because their leaders and citizens have to forsake righteousness.

Thirdly, doing great exploits.

“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.” Daniel 12:32

I can still remember, in the 70s and 80s, even have of the 90s, when companies are looking for workers, they will go to church and meet pastors that they want to employ their members for work. In Nigeria, this happened in Christ Apostolic Church. Why because they knew that the Christians by then completely embrace righteousness, not like today. What a pity for this generation that becomes tugs for unrighteous leaders. You become a trouble maker, army robbers, kidnappers, assassinators, and followers of wicked leaders because they offer you $20 or its equivalent in your currency.

Beloved, you can become great and do exploits more than the people you see as great heroes. Mind you, you don’t need to know any worldly man before you make it in life. Joseph did not know anybody in Egypt to help him, but his righteousness speaks for him when the times of his elevation come. The God that Joseph right with delivered him from the evil people and he became the first prime minister in the foreign land. Friend, you don’t need any political backup to become great, you only need divine backup. That’s, knowing God who created you in His image and likeness. Genesis 1:26-28

“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Daniel 11:32b

I repeat it, your greatness is not in the hand of any man, but it is in the hand of the Almighty God. You only need to know God the Father, and know Jesus Christ the Son and know the Holy Spirit in fullness.

“For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17

Repentance is the first step to know God.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

At this juncture, do you want to become great and do exploit? You want your business to prosper and become a hot cake for people to patronize? Do you desire to become the best student in your class? Or you want your ministry to become a source of blessing to humanity? Then, you need to find GOD now.

Come back to Jesus now, He invites you to come. Matthew 11:28. Surrender your life unto Him, confess your sins, and let Him take control of your life and everything you own.
