PRAYER BOMBS AGAINST WORLDLINESS
Bible Reading: Romans 1:20-32
Romans 1:20-32
“20 For the invisible
things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood
by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they
are without excuse:
21 Because that, when
they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became
vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing
themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the
glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and
to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also
gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour
their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the
truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the
Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this cause,
God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the
natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also
the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward
another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in
themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they
did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with
all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full
of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters
of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to
parents,
31 Without
understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable,
unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the
judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not
only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:20-32
Prayer against
worldliness is our focus today, and it is good for our readers to fight against
worldliness as the rapture day is approaching. Worldliness is one of the
characters that send many to the total doom of hellfire. it is a pity that many
people including Christians are ignorant of Satanic strategies through
worldliness.
Worldliness is
exchanging the truth of God for a lie and worshipping and serving created
things rather than the Creator (Romans 1:25). It is the activities of darkness
practice by the agents of evil to accomplish the plan as empowered by Satan.
Worldliness is a character of satanic workers, and their mission is to steal,
kill, and destroy [John 10:10a].
Generally,
worldliness refers to humanity in its sinful and fallen condition whereby it
opposes God and His ways. When men and women love the things of this world more
than God they are engaged in the idolatrous sin of worldliness. That’s when you
love the things of this world such as money, work, spouse, properties,
position, clothes, etc. more than God, you are engaged in worldliness.
It is observed that
worldliness takes numerous forms, such as the lust of the flesh, the lust of
the eyes, or the pride of life (1 John 2:16). The first parent [Adam and Eve]
were guilty of the sin of worldliness when they chose to believe Satan's lie
instead of God's truth and ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden
(Genesis 3:6). The entire humanity inherited the sin of worldliness through
Adam and Eve.
The worldliness that
God condemns is the practice of many people in this generation, they love
anything more than God their Creator – love their wealth, family, or even their
own lives.
“He that loveth
father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or
daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross,
and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall
lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew
10:37–39
Loving your wealth,
power, position, family, yourself, etc. than your Creator is a great disaster
that can hinder you to be a rapture when Jesus Christ comes. Loving worldly
things are a satanic strategy to hinder you to inherit heaven.
“He that loveth his
life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it
unto life eternal.” John 12:25.
Many people can use
hours to dress before the mirror but they cannot spend an hour before God in
Bible study and prayers. While some believe in worldly entertainment that
enjoying themselves in the presence of God.
WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?
·
Love God
With All Your Heart
Remember, Jesus gave us the greatest commandment, which is
to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and
great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 22:37–39.
Christ accomplished what He commanded by living His entire
life to please His Heavenly Father (John 4:34). Are you not among the people
that engage in worldliness rather than engage in the true word of God? Is the
love of God first in your life or the love of worldly things? No worldliness
can escape the judgment of God. Either you are a pastor, bishop, G.O. prophet,
elder or deaconess, or choir or Sunday school, etc., if you are engaging in
worldliness, you cannot escape the judgment of God, unless you repent and amend
your ways.
·
Imitate
Jesus Christ
As Christians, we are called to imitate Christ by refusing
to fall in love with this world. We should not imitate worldly things. However,
this does not mean that we cannot enjoy the good things that God has created
but we are to do so within the defensive boundaries set by our loving heavenly
Father and reserve our highest passions and greatest devotion for God every day
and anywhere.
The Holy Bible reveals that we are not called to retreat
from the world in frugal isolation, and we are not to love it either.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any
man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in
the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.” 1
John 2:15-17.
·
Live as a
stranger in the world.
Despite that, we are in the world but we are not of the
world [John 15:19; 17:15]. We are strangers and pilgrims in this world [Hebrews
11:13] but we are commanded not to be conformed to the world's anti-God
mindset, but we are to be transformed by God's Word and Spirit so that we may
know and do God's will [Romans 12:2].
Besides, this world is not our home, we are here for a
while, and our eternal home is the heaven where we will live forever with our
Lord and Saviour.
“And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence, they
came out, they might have had the opportunity to have returned. But now they
desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to
be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.” Hebrews 11:15-16
·
Obey
Jesus Christ.
We are to obey the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, rather
than the prince of this world, Satan.
·
Set our
minds on heavenly things.
We are called to set our minds on heavenly things and not
worldly things [Colossians 3:2]. You are to store up treasure in heaven rather
than in this world by being rich in faith and good deeds [Matthew 6:19–21;
James 2:5; 1 Timothy 6:18]
·
Live,
walk, and enrich in faith
As Christians, we are to live and walk in faith and also
overcome the world through faith in Jesus Christ.
“For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the
victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcomes the
world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:4–5
Finally, if you
don’t kill worldliness in your life, it will kill you forever. It is time for
you to surrender your life to Jesus Christ now. Forsake worldliness and only
passion for the things of God. Nothing good the worldliness will offer you than
destruction. Stop propagating worldliness. You are created in the likeness and
image of God. Stop copy affairs of sinful desires. Let the Holy Spirit dwell in
you.
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth
the will of God abideth forever.” 1 John 2:17
